Making what we love!
Cronch & Co started the way many good things do — by accident, at home, with half the ingredients missing.
We were trying to make chilli crisp for ourselves, using what we had around us. Local chillies we grew up eating. Spices from nearby markets. Bay leaves and pepper from our own backyard. No imported shortcuts, no perfect recipe — just curiosity, instinct, and a lot of tasting.
The first batch disappeared faster than we expected. Then the next one. Soon, every time friends came over, they’d ask if we had a jar they could take home. People started putting it on everything — omelettes, dosas, pizzas, kanji, kappa, noodles, even plain rice. That’s when we realised this wasn’t just a condiment. It was comfort food with a kick.
What makes our chilli crisp different is where it comes from. The flavours are bold but familiar, spicy but rounded — new, yet nostalgic. It tastes like something you’ve eaten before, even if you haven’t. That balance comes from using local ingredients and making small decisions by hand, batch after batch, instead of following a factory-perfect formula.
We still make Cronch the same way we always have — in small batches, every couple of weeks. Mostly because we can’t stop eating it ourselves. And when we’re running low at home, we just make a little extra and share it.
Cronch & Co isn’t about scaling fast or chasing trends. It’s about making something we genuinely love, taking our time, and letting people who enjoy it find us. If you’ve ever grown up with spicy food on the table, or believe that a good condiment can make an entire meal, you’re already one of us.
